According to the dictionary, the definition
of administration is: the managing of a business, household, club,
or office; management. This describes a small portion of the responsibilities
that the staff in Administration hold.
Maintaining internal and external relationships
among the hospital community, Board of Trustees, physicians and
other providers is one of the hats that Larry Felix, Chief Executive
Officer, wears. Other responsibilities include representing the
hospital in community and hospital association activities, recruiting
physicians and key management staff, developing strategic plans
and providing leadership in achieving goals. He also has to make
sure that the hospital complies with the many regulations that
govern the healthcare industry and responds to inspection agencies
as required. Monitoring quality, developing and enforcing policies,
developing and monitoring the hospital budget and providing support
to the Board of Trustees, physicians and staff are additional
responsibilities for the Administrator.
The Executive Secretary and Medical Staff Credentialing
Coordinator is primarily responsible for administrative support
to the Hospital, Board of Trustees and Medical Staff, and for
maintaining the hospital medical staff office and credentialing
of the medical staff, which is a very detailed and time-consuming
job.
