Co-Directors, Leslie Thomas and Donna Coffman manage the Pharmacy Department. The remainder of the team consists of clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Patient safety in the medication use system is our number one priority. RMH has invested in the technology of automated medication machines, bedside bar-coding system and sterile compounding equipment to meet this goal. According to the American Society of Health-System Pharmacy only 9.4% of hospitals use machine-readable coding to verify the identity of patients and the accuracy of drug administration before medications are given to the patient. Ransom Memorial Hospital is in the elite group of less than 10% of hospitals nationwide doing this best practice recommendation!

In addition, the department manages a number of clinical programs. These include renal dosing, pharmacokinetic dosing, anti-coagulation, IV to PO, pain management and patient and staff education programs.
